Service Description

This course is suggested for any student entering HS up to students entering JR. year. Any rising seniors or seniors should enroll in the one on one college essay writing program that will get them personally ready to submit unique application essays by December of Senior year. This program was created to help HS students get ready for the college applications process early so that they have enough time to add and prepare a competitive resume and experiences for future essay topics and interviews. This course will guide the student through the basic questions such as “Who am I?”, “How do I want to be seen?”, “What do I need to do to stand out in the major I’m applying for?”, “What am I lacking in my transcript?”, “Where should I apply?”, “How do I make my essay stand out?”, “How can I master an Interview?”. We will cover skills such as resume building, finding unique internships, college searches and tours, application questions, interview techniques, recommendations, and rough draft essay topics. Students applying to other programs during their HS years will be encouraged to work on those applications and essays as well in this course. This will be a small and focused class to ensure each student gets personal attention. There will be speakers throughout to share their expertise.

To Marc: I'd like to thank you for being such a great teacher (and the king of peptalks). When I came to IES, my math score was a 640. By midterms it was 670, which was very disappointing. Still, you believed in me and knew I could do better. Then I got a 780 on the final and I died (figuratively, of course). It was such an awesome feeling. You said in your comment about my final that you were really proud and thought I could do even better. Guess what? I did. I got a 790. So much of that score can be attributed to you, so thank you so much for everything.
